Because these gases often contain oxygen or are otherwise highly explosive, the use of detonation and deflagration arresters is mandatory. Particularly effective is the combination of static and dynamic flashback protection. The latter ensures that the gas flow velocity always remains above the flashback velocity – often by adding inert gases such as nitrogen.
